Position Summary
The Medical Officer is responsible for delivering comprehensive, and high-quality clinical care across outpatient (OPD), inpatient (IPD), and emergency departments. Reporting directly to the Head of Clinical Department, the Medical Officer will perform clinical assessments, formulates diagnostic and treatment plans, conducts minor surgical/clinical procedures, manages emergency resuscitation, and ensures accurate documentation. This role is pivotal in maintaining patient safety, operational compliance and quality healthcare delivery.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
Clinical Patient Care & Management
Conduct thorough clinical examinations, obtain detailed patient histories, and formulate appropriate differential diagnoses.
Order and interpret diagnostic laboratory investigations, radiological studies, and clinical tests in a timely manner.
Prescribe evidence-based medical treatment plans, medications, and therapeutic interventions in line with healthcare and hospital clinical guidelines.
Inpatient & Emergency Care
Conduct daily ward rounds for admitted patients, review progress notes, adjust treatment protocols, and plan timely discharges.
Provide immediate emergency care, triage, and resuscitation for acute medical, surgical, or obstetric emergencies.
Perform minor clinical and minor surgical procedures within scope of practice (e.g., wound debridement, suturing, lumbar puncture, chest drain insertion, cannulation).
